Check insurance policy before severe weather damage | KFOR.com

OKLAHOMA CITY ? With storm season here, experts want Oklahomans to take a close look at their insurance policies.

Insurance companies across the metro spent Monday filing claims for those hit by the hail storm Friday night.

State Farm Agent Sherrie Jefflo said April, May and June are usually the busiest months for claims.

?The majority of the damage that I?ve seen today is mostly cars,? Jefflo said.

According to experts, people should know their deductible and what their homeowners and car insurance covers.

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John Doak believes people should sit down and talk with their insurance agent.

?Take that 30, or 45 minutes, or an hour with your licensed agent or broker and go through your policy,? Doak said. ?One great question to ask is, ?walk me through a claim if I had a total loss.??

The Oklahoma Insurance Department will also answer any questions consumers have about insurance policies.
