Henry Acres, from Vancouver Island, former Nanaimo Clipper and Parksville General, and former pro-player in the US, Australia, Sweden and Finland brings his international pro-hockey playing skills and knowledge, pro-hockey coaching experience, and personal dedication, passion and charm to his Acres Hockey Summer School again this summer.
Acres Hockey programs are for ages 5 to 14. Individual attention is guaranteed with a high instructor to player ratio of 1:5. See the website for more information re instructors.. www.acreshockey.com
Every player will be challenged to work hard, to give their all and to become a focussed, passionate player who loves the game and wants to always be learning and improving and having fun.
Colleen Butler, director of Brain Navigators, author of Concussion Recovery, and international speaker, teaches concussion recognition and recovery techniques in Concussions 101. Acres Hockey is the world's first hockey school dedicated to a focussed attention on concussion prevention. Acres Hockey is passionate about bringing the fun and the respect back to all hockey.
Andy Seppanen of Progressive Goaltending is the professional trainer for the goalies.
The full-week program is for 9-14 year olds, boys and girls.
Included this year in the full- week program is BASE HOCKEY shooting analysis and training by their instruction team of former NHL players, including Cliff Ronning. Every Acres Hockey participant will receive a frame by frame video analysis of his/her shot and personal information on their optimum hockey stick choice.
A session for all athletes, coaches, parents and referees is planned for 2 pm to 4 pm on Tuesday, July 31. Cost is $20, which is a donation to Concussion Recovery Programs.
Your son or daughter will have the time of their lives at Acres Hockey 2012. Dedicated to bringing Smart Play to Hockey.
Parksville Rotary Club is assisting families with financial difficulties via the Michal Vincent Acres Memorial Bursary. You may nominate a player to receive a bursary to cover the full cost of the registration fee to Acres Hockey 2012. Nominate online at the Acres Hockey website. The player must write an essay following the directions given on the website for Acres Hockey. All applications must be received by July 15, 2012.
Register soon for the Acres Hockey Program of your choice: Steps (for ages 12-14), and Foundation (for ages 9-11). Register soon so that you are not disappointed. The Steps Program (ages12-14 age group) is now almost full.
